TAKE A SEAT, TAKE A STAND

Even as women’s voices grow stronger, they continue to be sidelined in sports. After claiming “We Got Next” in 1996, the WNBA helped pioneer a movement that had yet to take off. Now that the women’s movement has reached critical mass, the league is reasserting its leadership. In 2018, the WNBA invited all supporters to the arena by turning every seat into a chance to stand up for women and girls. Each ticket supported organizations changing the game. Our “Take a Seat. Take a Stand.” campaign divided arenas into sections for different causes. When fans took their seats, they also took a stand, and the WNBA donated a portion of ticket sales. As Creative Director, I led writing for social films, website messaging, and social activations that wove basketball into advocacy and empowered fans to join a movement.
