We have officially entered into a new era. One where the meaning of work, role, culture and creativity are as disrupted as the industries they’re meant to serve. Specialization has turned into isolation, and innovators rapidly iterate their way to obsolescence. Now more than ever it’s up to individuals to develop skills that foster resiliency.
The lesson is clear: in a world where information is ubiquitous, knowledge is the new currency. For my MBA thesis at the Berlin School of Creative Leadership I’m exploring the intersections of social entrepreneurship, creativity, intellectual property, and AI. I thrive in the role of thought leader, so I plan to use this knowledge to transform big ideas into action that can propel social change well into the 22nd Century.
Brands and companies need more than story telling. They need evangelism. Now that I've completed my MBA coursework I'd like to expand my professional repertoire. I'm looking for opportunities to apply my skill set to business transformation, thought leadership, strategic partnerships, and using my creative criteria to help drive innovation. I'm a natural connector of people with a touch of the entrepreneur and I thrive in cultures that reward hustle, grit and new ways of thinking.
Before I entered advertising, I toured around the world with a bag full of records and a head full of dreams. It was out there in the underground music community where I connected with my creativity. Soon after settling in New York City, I launched the record label NOSI Music and our artist-driven club night NO REQUESTS in 2006. What we created in those basements and warehouses became a launchpad to success for many rising stars of the global underground.
My agency career began in 2008 with an invitation to apply my background in science and creativity to launch platforms that continue to drive brand stories today. After several years of delivering ROI for brands, I decided to harness my creativity to help others. Today, I develop purpose-driven campaigns for corporations, brands, and institutions that aspire to address injustice, inequality, and social empowerment.
I believe in agile teaming as a new model for innovating and delivering high quality creative work. I’ve been perfecting this method with the Pirate Team: a global collective of creatives that have produced several culture-shaping campaigns. Most notably, The Refugee Nation. Our iconic orange & black Refugee Nation Flag was inspired by a life jacket and is currently on display at design museums around the world, including the MoMA (New York) and the V&A (London).
Creativity is part of everything I do. Whether it’s finding a third life for leftovers, or discovering new ways for technology to empower people to lead change, I practice the values that I preach: we’re at our best when we use creative power to help others.
